Vintage Modern
This young family bought a diamond in the rough house - a great area, good bones, and hasn’t been updated since it was built. Oh yes, my friend, we’re talking pink carpet and floral wallpaper. It was amazing. They had inherited pieces of grandma’s estate but were fearful that, in this old style home, things would look, well, old. This family is anything but fuddy duddy. I could not wait to get my hands on this house! To start, we painted throughout and got new floors and lighting. In the living room, we recovered grandma’s mint damask chair in an amazing emerald green velvet. We let the gold sofa bring the punch of color and kept the other pieces neutral, graphic and sculptural. The art as well as the black and white trunk were all family pieces and told a story and holy cow I loved them so much.
This dining room before was fantastic. There was so little we wanted to change. Jokes. With a toddler and a baby on the way, we needed chairs that could be easily wipeable and upholstery that disguised spills. We went with saturated color and simple pieces that compliment the living room.
