A Cowboy's Birthday

My grandfather was a real cowboy in Oklahoma and always had a love of horses. We rode his horses and even competed with him in rodeos when we were young, so when the doc announced to us,"it's a boy!" I knew a cowboy party would be in his future. We even had Papa's saddle, spurs, boots, saddle blanket and some of his artwork to decorate. It poured, but like the hearty cowboys and cowgirls we are, we prevailed and had a hoopin' hollerin' good time!

Decorated with ropes, "barbed wire", butcher blocks and themed signs, we're ready to dig in!

When the folk arrive, they MUST dress the part. Git yer gear, partners!

Farm Vegis and Dude Ranch and Cowboy Caviar round out a table of snacks fit for any weary traveller.

My MAIN cowboy.

Our lil family has a 2 year old! I decorated a blue layer cake with white icing and red hots. I tied twine around 2 skewers and attached the letters of his name above a horse and candles! Easy as pie, er, cake.

"Don't Go!" The poor little thing was so sad to see the good times end! He gave out little bags of trail mix that said "Happy trail mix to you until we meet again! From, Caleb"

Nana and I take a break for S'mores Pops. Dip marshmallows in melted chocolate and dip in graham cracker crumbs. Couldn't be easier. I stuck them in a hay bale to serve.
