Little Changes, Big Difference
Raise your hand if you have a sparsely decorated guest room in your home. I see you, there. And there. Yup, I see you too. Okay, put your hands down. We've all been there. You want your guest room to be a refreshing and comfortable space for your guests: a place where they feel special and welcome in your home. The guest room may be the place you feel that you just don't have the money to invest. The rooms aren't used often -- and you'd rather spend your creative energy and money on spaces shared by the entire family all the time. I get that. However, friends: I'm here to tell you, it doesn't have to cost a fortune to rejuvenate your space. Quick, inexpensive updates can be made with pillows, lighting, and side tables.
After designing their patio, living area, entry, and master bedroom -- my clients wanted to tackle their guest bedrooms as well. These rooms are fantastic examples of how accessories can completely transform a space with minimal investment.
Let's tackle the "red" room first (see on left). Here's the REVEAL:
Here, we added a beautiful lamp that was an appropriate size for the room - and will give any guest ample light to read (okay, look at Facebook on their phone) before going to bed in this new space. Replacing the art with a larger, more graphic print brings the red theme of the room together, enhanced by the inexpensive new shams and throw pillows. A side table completes the look.
Finally, let's check out the "blue" room.
We started with this fantastic print that was already hanging in the space. We brought out the vibrant green and blues with the throw pillows (can we talk about how that pillow with all the tassels is my REASON FOR LIVING?!), and ensured that the space felt fresh with the white side table. New lighting makes the space feel polished, and blue is repeated in the room on the bookshelf and on the window seat.
