Pattern on Pattern on Texture on Fun

Our clients moved into an incredible loft in downtown Atlanta as newlyweds who worked in movie production and fashion, respectively, and they wanted their space to reflect who they were: fun, young, and a bit funky.

In the living area, we built our design off an art piece they got from a New Mexico artist they love, pulling out the rich and vibrant colors. We’re pretty obsessed with this show-stopping tufted Chesterfield sofa in sangria velvet, which sits against simple lavender color-blocked walls and atop a plush black-and-white Greek key–patterned area rug. 

We commissioned a mural for the opposite wall that was inspired by a muralist and designed by Gina herself. We added a circular wooden sconce that glows amid the mural, then played up the high ceilings and exposed pipes by creating a gallery wall that follows the stairs to the second floor. 

In the bedroom, we wanted to continue the color palette, really focusing on pattern on pattern on texture on fun. We loved the boudoir feel of the fringey light fixture above the bed, which mirrors the French blue shade of the bed below. Colorful bedding and bedside lamps tie it all together, while subtly patterned black-and-white throw pillows help ground the design.

The jungle animal desk chair is from Anthropologie and juxtaposes well against the black-and-white graphic mosaic desk on which part of their collection of tiny bags is displayed. We added this quirky abstract nude wallpaper on one wall to add detail and character and the homeowners are, quite simply, obsessed with it. As are we.
